Diversity Steering Committee
The Diversity Steering Committee is an interdisciplinary group of self-identified trainees and trainee-appointed faculty members committed to improving the recruitment, retention, and support of CHA trainees and faculty who identify as Black, Indigenious and People of Color (BIPOC). We are working towards an educational environment that values diversity, inclusion and health equity. Our group spans across many CHA training programs (in psychiatry, psychology, family medicine, internal medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy), and we are actively expanding to include all departments at CHA.
We create a centralized, collaborative environment for trainees and faculty from different departments to coordinate and unify efforts with the goal of directing work on diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism across the organization. We advocate for opportunities to make our institution more aligned with these values, and we aim to promote the discussion and development of a needs assessment and evaluation mechanism that can be used within each department as a quality improvement measure. We also advocate for the development of curriculum that addresses health equity, anti-racism and implicit bias.
Diversity News at CHA

CHA residency directors Marcela Almeida, MD, Rebecca Rogers, MD, and Marie-Louise Jean-Baptiste, MD, (pictured with HMS Dean George Daley) recently attended Harvard Medical School’s Office for Diversity Inclusion and Community Partnership (DICP) Retreat for Directors and Assistant Directors of Residency Programs.
The retreat was for Residency/Training program directors and assistant directors, as well as DEI representatives from clinical departments to discuss issues pertaining to inclusive excellence, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
