The hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgeons at CHA treat conditions that affect the liver, gallbladder and pancreas. Our team does surgeries for common conditions like gallstones and pancreatitis as well as complex cancer surgeries. No matter what type of surgery you need, you’ll be in expert hands. You’ll also be in a convenient community setting where every patient gets personalized care.
We take a team approach to your surgery. Our surgeons work together with your entire care team, including medical specialists and your primary care provider, to make sure you get the care that’s right for your individual needs before, during and after your surgery.
Your Care at its Best
World class cancer care in your own community
At CHA, you get the same excellent care you would find at a large teaching hospital, without having to be far from home. Our doctors are leaders in their fields and have performed thousands of surgeries. Our chief of surgery, Dr. Richard Swanson served as director of the Program in Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Cancer at the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center before joining CHA. While he was there, he led a specialized team which advanced national standards of care through breakthrough research.
Minimally invasive surgery
When possible, we use minimally invasive techniques. These methods, which use smaller incisions, can help minimize pain and scarring after surgery. They may also make it possible for you to go home from the hospital and get back to your daily routine more quickly.
