See, Test & Treat In Action

Find out what See, Test and Treat is all about. Watch this short video and meet people from previous events.

  • Why is getting screened important?

Screenings can save your life. In underserved communities, many people live without regular health care, increasing their risk for late diagnoses. Getting screened as early as possible can allow you to get the health services you need.

The statistics tell us a lot about how people are impacted. Generally, women living in Middle Eastern countries have later diagnoses and higher mortality - one main factor contributing to this is low screening rates of Muslim women. African American women are 40% more likely to die of breast cancer, mostly because of late diagnoses. Latina women in America are 60% more likely to get cervical cancer and 40% more likely to die from it. South East Asian women have higher invasive cervical cancer rates and get fewer Pap tests done than most other ethnic groups in the US. And, the transgender and gender diverse communities are at higher risk due to lack of access to healthcare.

  • Who can get screened?

If you are between the ages of 21-65 and you are uninsured or underinsured, we invite you to get screened. CHA welcomes everyone and you will not be asked your immigration status at any point.

If you have premium health coverage, we are happy to schedule an appointment for you with a CHA provider at another time.

  • Do I need to sign up?

Yes. Space is limited. When you sign up, we will ask you to share some personal information. Based on HIPAA regulations, we will not share this information with third parties without your consent.

  • What screenings are offered?

Cervical and breast cancer screenings are the primary focus of the day, but other screenings like HPV will also be offered. Cervical cancer is preventable, and breast cancer can be treated when it is diagnosed early. Additional screenings like skin and dental will be available at the health fair.

  • What if I need follow-up care?

Providers will explain a personal care plan for you if you have an abnormal result. Our providers understand this can be stressful and will provide support and education to assist you in taking the next steps. This includes scheduling follow-up appointments and working with financial assistance to make a plan.

  • What will I find at the Health Fair?

All kinds of health education and wellness information as well as activities will be available at the Health Fair! Counseling about how to access healthcare coverage, skin and dental screenings, and lots of information from community health partners.

  • I don’t have a car. Can you help with transportation?

Yes! We will help you get to the event. When you sign up, please let us know you need a ride.

  • Is there parking?

Yes, free parking is available in the CHA Cambridge Hospital garage. When you check-in, please ask for a parking voucher.
