CHA Welcomes Gov. Healey, U.S. Senators Warren and Markey, and State and Local Leaders

Press conference at CHA Revere Care Center calls to protect Medicaid from harmful cuts

REVERE, Mass. - On Tuesday, May 27, Cambridge Health Alliance welcomed Mass. Governor Maura Healey and U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey to the CHA Revere Care Center for a press conference to protect Medicaid. CHA joins in the effort to urge Congress to reject harmful proposed cuts that would adversely impact the health of the two million Massachusetts residents who rely on Medicaid and the healthcare system for all.

Gov. Healey was joined by a number of officials, leaders, and advocates in support of health care in the Commonwealth. She spoke about the impact the cuts would have on Massachusetts residents, nursing homes, hospitals, and health centers. Vowing to champion this cause in Washington, U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey detailed the implications for the health of Massachusetts and the nation. Revere Mayor Patrick Keefe kicked off the event with welcoming remarks which included his reflections on partnering with CHA and the CHA Revere Mobile Market. State Senator Lydia Edwards, Mass League of Community Health Centers President & CEO Dr. Michael Curry, and Medicaid advocate Dennis Heaphy also spoke.

Jill Batty, CHA's chief financial officer, discussed the vital role Medicaid plays in the health of CHA's patients, communities, and the services it provides.

The press conference is archived on YouTube.
